Wanted: UBC student to help make some videos!

We’re looking to hire a Student Video Production Assistant to produce short videos for various VP-Students projects over the summer. If you, or someone you know, has experience producing videos we welcome an application via UBC Careers Online – www.careersonline.ubc.ca – Job ID 2955.

Here’s the JD:

The qualified candidate will be responsible for developing and testing storyboards and filming and editing short videos to support priority initiatives over the duration of their appointment. The videos will be related to several VP-Students portfolio projects including: UBCevents, UBC Orientations, VPS Priority Action Teams, and the Admin Blog. Duties include script and concept development, planning for shooting, liaising with talent, interviewing, fact-gathering, production set-up, leading rehearsal, filming, and production take-down, editing and delivering web-ready video files. Other duties related to leveraging social media as assigned.

Anticipated skill and knowledge acquisition:
Gain valuable experience in video production, develop creative thinking skills, public relations skills, and project management skills. The successful applicant will also gain knowledge about the services and supports provided through the VP-Students portfolio to support student learning.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and proven experience in video production including digital video camera operation, lighting techniques, editing software (Final Cut Studio, Adobe Premiere and After Effects CS4) and formats (HD video editing and web publishing) and DVD authoring. Excellent communication and coordination skills, creative thinking skills, problem solving, and organizational skills are required. Knowledge of emerging social media trends and tools an asset.
